Then you’ve come to the right place! In our Flourishing feast workshop, we break down the flourishing process through our stroke-by-stroke approach and help you create beautiful and elegant flourishes that instantly elevate the aesthetics of your script.

Basically, giving you a method to the madness!

In this class, you will learn : 

👉Lowercase and Uppercase flourishes – We’ll learn how to add flourishes to ALL our letters, understanding the construction and form

👉 Opportunities to flourish – While we know what a flourish is, it’s important to identify the right spot or ‘opportunity’ to add our flourishes!

👉 Balance and spacing – You will learn how to use positive and negative space to create a perfect balance in your flourishes – because remember your words won't sing unless your space does!

👉 Less is more – Yes and Yes! Just because you have multiple opportunities to flourish, it doesn’t mean we use all of them. It’s important to understand where to flourish when to flourish, and also when not to flourish!

👉 Aesthetic elegance – Flourishes need to be pleasing to the eye, and not stress or confuse the eye. We will learn how to create elegant strokes while flourishing!

👉 Parallel nature – Flourishes are primarily Ovals ovals and ovals along specific angles. We’ll learn how to create and identify concentric or parallel strokes that immediately add to the elegance as well as balance!

👉 Composition – you’ll learn how to use flourishes to your advantage while composing pieces!

👉 Stand-alone flourishes – Sometimes we want to create flourishes that can be used as embellishments or even borders, if you like the sound of that, we’ve got you covered!

We'll take a 60 min lunch break where we can quickly step out to grab a bite!

1. Oblique Holder of your choice 

2. Flexible Pointed Nib (Recommended: Hunt 101, Principle EF) 

3. Ink (Recommended: Sumi Ink / Fox & Quill / Walnut Ink / Feel free to use any of your favorite inks) 

4. Calligraphy-friendly paper with guide sheets printed (Recommended: Bombay Lettering Copperplate Calligraphy Practice pad / Canson Layout Paper / JK Bond 100 GSM + )
